INTRODUCTION TO MY PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE

So, you’re curious about what to expect during a family photoshoot with me? Well, let’s chat about the vibe. My style is all about keeping things natural and relaxed. I love capturing those genuine family moments, the ones that make you smile whenever you look back. If you’re a new mum or a family that enjoys a bit of fun, we’re going to get along great.

Think of the photo shoot as a fun hangout rather than a formal session. I aim to capture you as you are, with all those lovely real emotions. No stiff, awkward poses here. The focus is on natural colours and neutral tones that stand the test of time.

What’s great is when everyone’s just being themselves. Those candid moments, a laugh between you and your partner, the kids being their silly selves – that’s the good stuff. The goal is to make the environment comfortable and reflective of your family’s personality.

I get that being in front of the camera can be a bit nerve-wracking, especially if you’re not used to it. But trust me, it’s going to feel more like hanging out with a friend. I’m here to guide you and make sure everyone feels at ease. It’s all about having a good time and letting those beautiful moments unfold naturally.

If you’re after natural family photos that capture the essence of your family – the love and the little moments – then you’re in the right place!

UNDERSTANDING THE PROCESS

First up, we’ll have a little chat before the session. We can Pick your perfect location, and I can give some suggestions on beautiful places I've shot at before. Please click to have look back at my previous blog post about best outdoor locations for family sessions.

We’ll chat about the vibe you want, any specific moments you’d love to capture, toss around some ideas and what to expect during a family photoshoot. It's super chill and gives us a chance to make sure everything's spot on for your family.

Choosing what to wear can sometimes be a bit of a head-scratcher, so we'll go over that too. I have a full detailed section in my digital welcome pack that's all about outfits etc, which is sent to all my clients upon booking. It doesn’t have to be fancy; just something comfortable that reflects your family’s style. We'll make sure everyone looks cohesive without being too matchy-matchy. And don’t worry, if you’re stuck for ideas, I've got plenty of tips to help.

On the day, the focus is on making everyone feel comfy and relaxed. There’s no rush or strict agenda. The aim is to create a fun and easy-going atmosphere where genuine moments can happen naturally. This way, the photos will show your family as they truly are, with all the laughter and love.

CREATING A COMFORTABLE ATMOSPHERE

On the day, it's all about keeping things light and easy. I understand it can be a bit nerve-wracking being in front of the camera, but don’t worry, it’ll feel like hanging out with a friend. The aim is to make everyone feel at ease and actually enjoy the experience. No need to stress about the kids running wild or getting muddy – it’s all part of the fun…

And hey, sometimes those spontaneous moments are the best ones!

Laughter is always encouraged, and it makes for the best photos.

Think of it as a laid-back gathering rather than a formal shoot. No stiff poses or forced smiles here. It’s all about capturing those real, authentic moments. The everyday moments are the ones that truly shine.

Bring along some favourite items or toys, especially for the little ones. It helps them feel more secure and adds a personal touch to the photos. Snacks and drinks can also be a good idea to keep everyone energised and happy throughout the session.

WHAT TO BRING

Thinking about what to bring to your family photoshoot? Let's keep it simple and meaningful.

Got a favourite book you read together? Or perhaps a toy that always brings out the giggles? Bring it along. It’s these personal touches that can make your photos even more unique and special to your family. Kids especially can feel more at ease with familiar items around, making the whole experience more enjoyable for them.

Don’t forget about snacks and drinks! Keeping everyone’s energy up is key to a relaxed and happy session. A few favourite treats can work wonders, especially if there are little ones who might need a quick break. It’s all about creating an easy-going atmosphere where everyone can just be themselves.

If there’s a family pet that's part of your everyday life, feel free to include them. Pets can add a lot of warmth and fun to the photos, capturing your family's true dynamic. Just make sure they’re comfortable with the surroundings and people involved.

Wardrobe-wise, think comfortable and true to your style. If you need a hand deciding, we’ll chat about that beforehand, but the main goal is for everyone to feel good in what they’re wearing. Simple, coordinated outfits often work best, without being too matchy-matchy.

The little things really do make a difference. So, bring along those bits and bobs that reflect your family’s unique personality.

DAY OF THE FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT

When the big day arrives, you will want to know what to expect during a family photoshoot–the day is all about keeping things light and enjoyable!

No need to worry about the kids being themselves – if they want to run around or get a bit messy, that’s perfectly fine. In fact, those moments often make for the best photos. The focus is on capturing the genuine interactions and emotions that define your family.

We’ll take our time, so there’s no need to rush. If someone needs a break, we’ll take it. The aim is to make everyone feel at ease and actually enjoy the experience. It's about capturing your family in their true essence, with all the laughter and love.

So, relax and let those beautiful moments unfold naturally!

AFTER THE PHOTOSHOOT

So, we’ve had our fun, and now it’s time for the next bit – editing. Here is what to expect after a family photoshoot…

This is where all those lovely moments we captured get a bit of magic. Once I've narrowed down your photos and worked my magic during editing, You’ll get to view them all together to pick your favourites. It’s a bit like choosing from a box of chocolates – each one sweet and unique.

The aim is to deliver images that are warm, authentic, and truly reflect your family’s spirit.

Expect a mix of candid moments and gentle smiles that feel real and timeless. These are the kind of photos you’ll love looking back on, each one telling a story of love and those beautiful little moments that mean so much.

I want these photos to be something you cherish forever, so rest assured they’ll be given the utmost care and attention. From the initial click to the final edit, every step is about creating something special for you and your family.
