Key things to bring to your newborn shoot.

Your go-to easy checklist which I have put together from years of experience as a natural newborn photographer in Nottingham

If you’re planning a newborn photoshoot, first of all — congratulations on your soon to be or new arrival! As a natural newborn photographer in Nottingham, one of the most common questions I get asked is: “What should I bring with me to my newborn session?”

The answer is: not much at all. My cosy home photography studio in Nottingham has everything we need for a relaxed, baby-led photoshoot. But there are a few little essentials that will help you feel more prepared and comfortable on the day.

Nappies and Wipes

Newborn sessions are calm and unhurried, often lasting up to 3 hours. Babies usually need a few changes during that time, so bringing your usual supply of nappies. I do have some wipes on hand but just incase it's always handy to bring some or if your using cotton wool.

Milk / Feeds

Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle feeding, bring along whatever you’ll need for your baby’s feeds. We will take breaks whenever your little one needs them, so you never have to feel rushed.

A Spare Outfit - Just incase

It’s always a good idea to pack a spare outfit or two for your baby. Newborns are unpredictable, and having backups makes things easier. I do have a small selection of outfits we can use during your shoot, which I will run through on arrival, but there's never any harm in having too many options.

Comfort Items

If your baby uses a dummy or has a favourite swaddle, or a little comforter, feel free to bring it along. These familiar items can help them settle between photos.

Sentimental Items (Optional)

Some families like to include a blanket knitted by a grandparent, a maybe the first teddy you brought for them, or another keepsake in their session. As your Nottingham newborn photographer, I love weaving personal touches into your images — though it’s totally optional so there's no pressure to bring anything.

Snacks and Drinks for You

Of course I can have a warm tea of coffee waiting for you, along with some fresh water and biscuits. My newborn sessions are baby-led and can often last up to 2–3 hours, so you’re welcome to bring along any additional snacks or drinks. Especially if little siblings are coming along as well.

You don’t need to worry about props, fancy baskets, or complicated outfits. My style as a natural newborn photographer in Nottingham is all about keeping things simple, timeless, and focused on your baby and family connection.

I have blankets, nappy bags, white noise machine, hot water, Wipes, selection of outfits, changing mat etc

Final Tip

Try not to overthink it — the most important thing you can bring is yourself and your newborn. Relax, enjoy some cuddles, and let me capture this fleeting stage in a calm, natural way.

I also provide upon booking a detailed welcome guide which goes into more detail all the information you need on the lead up to your shoot.
