It probably feels like only yesterday you were bringing your tiny newborn home and now you're planning their first birthday.
Their first year is full of so many changes. From those sleepy newborn days and first smiles to sitting, crawling, standing and discovering their own little personality.
Before you know it, your tiny baby is turning one.
As a birthday photographer in Nottingham, I think your baby's first birthday is such a special milestone to capture. Not because everything has to be perfect, but because this is the beginning of so many more memories to come.

One Year Goes By So Quickly
There is something quite emotional about looking back at photographs from your baby's first year.
That tiny newborn you once held in your arms is suddenly sitting, standing or taking their first steps ( your just trying to keep up with them at this point lol)
-Their face has changed.
-Their little personality has developed.
-And they've probably grown out of more outfits than you can count!
A first birthday photoshoot gives you the chance to pause for a moment and capture exactly who your little one is at this age.
Because they won't be this little again.
Capture Their Little Personality
One of my favourite things about photographing one year olds is seeing their personalities starting to come through.
-Some babies are full of smiles.
-Some are a little more cautious.
-Some want to explore absolutely everything.
-And others are happiest staying close to mum or dad.
There is no right or wrong way for your little one to be during their photoshoot as I want to capture them just as they are.
Those cheeky smiles, curious expressions and little mannerisms are all part of what makes your baby uniquely them.
It's Not Just About The Cake
When you think about a first birthday photoshoot you might immediately think of a cake smash.
And while cake smashes can be lots of fun, it doesn't have to be the whole focus of your session.
For me a first birthday photoshoot is about capturing your baby's personality and this special stage of their life.
We can capture all the beautiful portraits, little details, family cuddles and those natural moments in between.
If you would like to include a cake though, we can absolutely make that part of the session too.
The important thing is that the photographs feel like your family.
Don't Forget About The Family Photographs
Your baby's first birthday isn't just a milestone for them......It's a milestone for you too.
You've made it through the sleepless nights, the first smiles, the many illnesses, the first foods and all those little moments that have made up the past year.
So please don't feel like you need to stay behind the camera.
Come and be part of it if you feel comfortable to, but there is never any pressure from me.
-A cuddle with mum.
-A kiss from dad.
-Little hands reaching up to you.
-The three of you laughing together.
These photographs will mean just as much as the photographs of your little one on their own.
Simple And Timeless Photographs
My approach to first birthday photography is very similar to my newborn and family photography.
I love keeping things simple - Neutral colours, natural light and minimal styling allow your little one to be the focus.
You don't need a huge themed backdrop or lots of props to mark their first birthday.
Sometimes the simplest photographs are the ones you'll still love looking at years from now.
I want your photographs to feel timeless rather than tied to a particular trend.
A Moment To Slow Down
The first year can feel like a whirlwind as there always seems something new is happening.
-Another milestone.
-Another new word.
-Another outfit they've grown out of.
Their first birthday is a lovely opportunity to stop for a moment and appreciate just how far they've come.
During your photoshoot, there is no need to rush.
We'll take things at your little one's pace, with plenty of time for cuddles, play and little breaks if needed.
The aim is for the session to feel relaxed and enjoyable rather than something else you need to organise perfectly.
